Pruning Woody Shrubs

Learn the pruning style of "lacing" and how to find the unique shape of every shrub, with emphasis on aesthetics, health, and control. See how to expose branch structure and encourage light exposure and air circulation. Find out what alternatives there are to topping. Learn some basics of the effects of pruning on plant biology.  Ted will also demonstrate how to sharpen and care for your pruners.

The workshop will be led by Ted Overland and held at his garden in Oceanside. He is an ISA certified arborist and landscape contractor. Since 2004, he has been in business as Solstice Landscaping. His work is greatly inspired by his former employer and mentor, Tom Piergrossi.
