JUNE 2022 PROGRAM - SHARON REEVE
A UCCE Master Gardener since 1998, Sharon Reeve worked for many years as a Consulting Horticulturist for Monrovia Nurseries, and as a landscape designer for Brightview Landscapes in San Diego. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Landscape Architecture, and a Master of Science degree in Ecology.
She is the author of two blogs on plants, Natives Now SoCal and Life Goes Better with Plants, in which she spotlights the unique plants that she grows and studies in her garden and the wildlife associated with them. She puts these experiences into practice in her design business, ReWild, specializing in drought tolerant, native and wildlife gardens.
At our June meeting, Sharon will address the cause of the current decline of native bees and honey bees, and will discuss the class of chemicals called “neonicotinoids,” and tell us how to avoid them.
She’ll tell us how to identify native bees, giving examples of bees that we might see in our gardens, and will advise us about good plants we can use to attract bees.
The meeting will also be presented live via zoom. The zoom presentation starts at 6:45. Use the register link to receive the zoom link in email.
