Pruning for Fruit Trees
If you’re intimidated by all the information about how to correctly prune fruit trees, this is the workshop for you. Get a quick overview of the art and science of pruning. Then watch demonstrations of how to prune for better structure, for enhanced aesthetics and to maximize your fruit production. Finally, get out your pruners and join in the fun. With a little practice, you’ll gain confidence and be ready to have a go at your own backyard fruit trees. You will also learn how to sharpen and care for your pruners.
This workshop will be led by Patty Berg, founder and managing partner of The Wishing Tree Company in Encinitas. Patty is a member of the Professional Tree Care Assn. of San Diego and the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. She’s also the Volunteer Coordinator for SDHS.
In case of rain, please call host Susi Torre-Bueno at 760-295-2173 the morning of the workshop between 8am and 8:30am. It might not be raining hard enough to cancel or reschedule. We will cancel the pruning session if more than a mist just for safety reasons.
