Biography:
Connie Beck has been an organic gardening instructor and landscape designer for the past 30 years, including ten years teaching vocational horticulture at the San Diego County women's jail. In the past she has also enjoyed being a Canyoneer and a nature interpreter for the Audubon Society. As a volunteer with the National Wildlife Federation she helped people create habitats in schools, churches, businesses, and backyards. Currently, she works with the California Native Plant Society on special projects to promote the use of our beautiful native plants which are so well-adapted for this area. She has previously hosted the “Ready, Set, Grow” segment on East County Magazine’s radio show on KNSJ.
Her belief is that one person at a time can make a difference by giving up toxic chemicals and providing the basic necessities for wildlife: food, water, cover and a place to raise their young. Key to this is good plant choice and good design to save water and create sustainable landscapes in our own gardens.
To be held rain or shine.
