Topic: Not Your Grandmother’s Rose Garden

Description:

Do chickens have lips? Do Roses have hips? Speaking of “hip”, did you know that roses have made the great escape? Yep - they busted out of Grandma’s formal rose garden, and have been seen disguised as landscape bushes that pretty much flower year -round with very little formal
care or maintenance- lurking around in YOUR gardens! Tom Jesch, of Waterwise Botanicals, insists that the 200 year old quest of developing and pampering the perfect hybrid tea rose is NOT what we do here. See thousands and thousands of “Landscape Roses” either developed “en facility”, or recalled out of antiquity, to become the best blasts of permanent color that can be applied to the garden or commercial landscape. Oh, and are they drought tolerant?....

Biography:

Tom Jesch grew up near beautiful Lake Tahoe and Reno in Nevada. Tom and his brothers would hike and camp out regularly in the mountains and canyons.  These experiences gave him a respect and love of the outdoors that has resulted in a lifelong interest in nature & horticulture.  It all began with an out-of-control cactus collection he started on the basement windowsill of their family home as a kid.
Today, Tom has over 40 years of experience in the nursery business and passion for plants that is infectious.  He has introduced dozens of new plant varieties to the trade and named new cultivars that cannot be readily acquired anywhere else.
Tom can best be described as engaging, innovative and enthusiastic.  He has a rare ability to bring a subject to life for an audience.  Tom’s interests are vast and he is knowledgeable about a variety of topics including nature and science, water features, fish, land management, landscape design and much, much more.  Using his gift for story telling with a twist of humor, he draws from his colorful background to entertain and educate his audience.
