Topic: Growing Camellias

Dean Turney will host and be the speaker for the SDHS workshop on camellias. He is eminently qualified as he has pursued his love of camellias for over thirty years. He will demonstrate how to care for camellias and discuss different types and varieties. He will cover how to fertilize, prune, and graft camellias. He will also share his garden with over 100 camellias.

Dean Turney, a retired engineer, has been an active camellia collector for many years and is currently President of the San Diego Camellia society. He is also active in several other plant societies and is very knowledgeable about shade plants.  His fascinating garden has many varieties of begonias, camellias, ferns, and other shade loving plants.
