Topic: Grafting Fruit Trees
Join a group workshop to learn about the basics of grafting fruit trees. What is a scion and how do you collect them? When should different tree varieties be grafted, how long does it take from grafting to harvesting fruit, which grafting technique works the best? Is it a good idea to have a tree that is grafted with several different varieties of fruit? Come with questions and leave with answers.
Diab Hammad, UCCE Master Gardener, learned the art of farming from his father and grandfather. He and his wife now own a small ranch in Vista where he raises chickens and grows most of the family’s needs for fruits and vegetables. They sell surplus to neighbors and lovers of organic produce.
