Volunteer for the Garden Tour
The Spring Garden Tour is our major fundraiser of the year. We count on our wonderful volunteers to make the Tour an enjoyable experience for our visitors. In exchange for assisting for half of the day (about 4.5 hours), volunteers receive free entry to the gardens on the day of the tour.
Volunteers need to be outgoing, able to sit or stand for several hours and able to handle hills and willing to serve in position assigned. Those assigned to morning shifts may enjoy the tour in the afternoon. Afternoon volunteers can tour in the morning and report to their assignments in the afternoon.
You will represent the San Diego Horticultural Society the day of the tour. The majority of the volunteer opportunities are for garden greeter. As a garden greeter at one of the gardens on the tour you will great tour guests and direct them how to visit the garden. You will have a list of ticket purchasers and will check off attendees. If this is the first garden they guest is visiting, you will give them a tour wristband to wear and offer them a map to the other gardens. You may also need to help the garden owner with any issues or assistance they may need. More detailed instructions and individual assignments will be provided closer to the tour date.
All ticket sales are in advance of the tour and online only. So you will not need to sell tickets or collect money.
At several of the gardens, there may need to be some help directing traffic.
Use the Register button on the left to volunteer. Select from the available shifts when completing registration.
