With a focus on holiday food safety, a panel of UCANR Certified Master Food Preservers will teach us about the safest ways to preserve and prepare our home gardens' bounty, based on current scientific research.
Mission
The UC Master Food Preserver Program's mission is to keep Californians safe and well as they use culturally appropriate, research-based practices to safely preserve food in the home, reducing food waste, increasing food security, and providing engaging ways for Californians to explore healthy food.
Purpose
UCCE Master Food Preserver volunteers are agents of the University of California and work through the UC Cooperative Extension to educate the community on the safe practices of food preservation. Some of the activities done by MFPs areWork in the community as local food preservation specialists.Teach classes on various food preservation topics.Answer food preservation inquiries by email.Staff information booths and present food preservation demonstrations at local events.Provide accuracy testing of Presto home pressure canners for the public.
We meet the third Saturday of the month at 1:30p at San Diego Oasis in Rancho Bernardo.
