Organic Pest Control 

Workshop will cover how to rid or curb your pest and disease problems in the organic garden. Spring is here and the aphids, worms and mites have their sights on your veggies. We will cover, old-wives tales, OMRI approved chemicals, physical barriers and the wonders of water.  After the talk ,all are free to walk the gardens and identify some of the threats.

Instructor: Roy Wilburn


Roy Wilburn was a commercial tomato, pepper and strawberry grower in Mexico for 20 years.  He then went on to be the grower for Herb Thyme Farms in Oceanside for about 3 years.  He is now the Director of Horticulture at Sunshine Care, A Community of Assisted Living Homes in Poway.  There he manages 5 organic fields, a greenhouse, a rose garden and two fruit tree orchards plus the landscaping of the 32-acre facility. He also oversees food bank gardens on site and school gardens.

  • Pen
  • A smile
  • Umbrella or Sunscreen, as required
  • Hat
  • Garden gloves, if preferred
  • Water
  • Casual dress
  • Closed-toe shoes REQUIRED
