Summer Pruning for Fruit Trees
You've heard that you're supposed to prune fruit trees in summer as well as in winter, but exactly what is involved? If you’re intimidated by all the information about how to correctly prune fruit trees, this is the workshop for you. Get a quick overview of the art and science of pruning. Then watch demonstrations of how to prune for better structure, for enhanced aesthetics and to control the size of your trees. Finally, get out your pruners and join in the fun. With a little practice, you’ll gain confidence and be ready to have a go at your own backyard fruit trees.
This workshop will be led by Patty Berg, founder and managing partner of The Wishing Tree Company in Encinitas. Patty is a member of the Professional Tree Care Assn. of San Diego and the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. She’s also the Volunteer Coordinator for SDHS. Patty taught the February 2013 workshop on Winter Pruning for Fruit Trees.
